New York native Kathryn Krull identifies as a pianist, singer, performer and clown. She was introduced to Commedia del’Arte while studying abroad in Italy at the Academia del’Arte in Arezzo. She graduated from Muhlenberg College (Allentown, PA) with a dual BA in Music and Theatre, but she has gone on to do many different things since then. When she isn’t rocking a mask or clowning, she is also a Conductor and Music Director, and performs with circuses, bands, and on cruise ships. She genuinely ran away with the circus and toured the U.S. (Ringing Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Big Apple Circus, Circus Smirkus), and has also sailed on cruise ships to locations as far as Finland, Russia, Bermuda, and Curacao (Carnival, Norwegian, Holland America) – all because of singing, and playing the piano. However, Commedia has been a big part of her teaching career, and she’s brought this ancient Italian mask work to many students all the way from Maine to Florida. Her favorite character to physicalize is Arlecchino, but the whole classical bunch of characters is very fun to bring to life!
