Tap with Julie (Ages 9-12)

Do you love to dance around your living room? Have you always wanted to learn how to tap? Well now’s your chance! Come explore the art of tap dance at a beginner level. Students will learn tap basics from shuffles to ball changes while having fun, staying active, and keeping the creative juices flowing! This one-hour class will introduce beginning tap technique, rhythm, and style through warm up, center work, and combination. No experience necessary. Julie Connors Grunspan has appeared on Broadway in the original casts of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Never Gonna Dance, and The Apple Tree (Revival). Her tapping feet can be heard on the Thoroughly Modern Millie original cast album as well as Sherry! The Broadway Musical world premiere cast recording. Julie has studied tap in Northern California, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, London, and NYC with teaching artists Carlos Jones, Tobias Tak, Henry LeTang, Phil Black, Bob Audy, and Ray Hesselink. She has contributed tap education and choreography to various theatrical groups and schools including Backstage Academy of Dance, Academy 331, UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television; UCLA’s Musical Theatre Workshop, and Pleasantville Middle School. Julie holds a B.A. in Sociology from UCLA. She lives in Pleasantville, NY with her husband and two daughters.
